Kinship of the Park Rapids Area is, at its heart, a community organization. Our work depends on people who believe that young people thrive when they are surrounded by caring adults, meaningful connections, and a community willing to invest in their future.

That is why we are so grateful for our annual sponsors. Their support is more than a donation—it is a direct investment in mentoring relationships, youth support, and the long-term strength of our community.
This year alone, our annual sponsors have provided nearly $10,000 to support Kinship programming. Those funds help make possible:
- mentor and youth recruitment efforts
- mentor and family orientation and training
- regular mentorship match support
- administrative oversight that keeps our program strong and sustainable
When local businesses and organizations choose to support Kinship, they are helping ensure that mentors, youth, and families receive the encouragement and structure they need to build lasting relationships. That kind of support matters deeply in a small community like ours.
Mentoring can be especially meaningful in rural communities, where families may face longer travel distances, fewer nearby services, and fewer structured opportunities for youth. National research continues to reinforce the value of supportive adult relationships. A 2025 evidence summary of Big Brothers Big Sisters community-based mentoring found an approximately 13 percentage point reduction in violence-related delinquent behavior and recurring substance use at the four-year follow-up. Other mentoring initiatives have also shown stronger youth connections to caring adults. For communities like ours, that reinforces an important truth: when local people step up, young people gain relationships that strengthen confidence, stability, and long-term wellbeing.
