Position Summary:

Kinship of the Park Rapids Area is seeking a passionate and experienced Executive Director (ED) to lead our mission of fostering positive mentorships between adult volunteers and children in our community. The Executive Director will oversee the organization’s operations, ensuring the growth and success of programs, volunteer recruitment, partnerships, fundraising efforts, and financial management. As the primary liaison between the organization and the Board of Directors, the ED will maintain transparent communication and help guide the strategic direction of Kinship. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Development:

  • Lead efforts to recruit volunteers and match them with children seeking positive role models, utilizing outreach strategies like social media, community events, and local networks.
  • Conduct interviews, background checks, and orientation for volunteers, ensuring the success of mentor-mentee relationships through ongoing support and case management.
  • Collaborate with the Activities Committee to implement engaging group activities.
  • Support the Reading Buddies Coordinators in volunteer recruitment and program delivery.

Marketing & Public Relations:

  • Spearhead marketing and public relations efforts to raise awareness of Kinship’s mission, goals, and impact within the community.
  • Represent Kinship at community events and public speaking engagements to recruit volunteers and secure donations.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and visibility across all platforms in partnership with the Board.

Financial Management & Fundraising:

  • Oversee the organization’s financial operations, working with the Treasurer and Finance Committee to maintain sound financial practices.
  • Prepare the annual operating budget and financial reports for Board review.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and annual campaigns, while ensuring transparency in all financial matters.

Board Leadership & Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to fulfill the mission and ensure effective organizational operations.
  • Provide regular updates to the Board on organizational performance and fundraising progress.
  • Assist with board member recruitment, development, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, program development, and fundraising.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degrees or certifications in nonprofit management, social work, or a related field are a plus.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record of engaging and motivating volunteers, donors, and board members.
  • Strong experience with financial management, budgeting, and reporting to the Board of Directors.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and nonprofit-specific software.

Work Schedule and Benefits:

Remote hybrid position, up to 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend events. Holiday pay, PTO and retirement benefits.
