Who are we? Kinship of the Park Rapids Area is a not-for-profit youth mentoring organization providing adult friendship and positive role models to youth in southern Hubbard County. We also match adult volunteers with first graders to foster the joy of reading.

What do we do? We match adult volunteers with a child between the ages of 6 to 16, according to their interests, location, age and needs. We provide monthly social and recreational activities which help to foster the development of their friendships.

What is a mentor? A mentor is a trusted adult friend with a long-term, consistent commitment to provide friendship and guidance to a youth. In Kinship, we ask for at least a one year commitment. It’s all about being friends, sharing common interests, and being exposed to new interests.

Why is mentoring important? Our community’s future rests on the hopes and dreams of our children and youth. Our future work force depends on preparing our children with adequate education and social skills sufficient to meet demands. Every child deserves a responsible and concerned adult who will provide guidance and support, help them set and accomplish goals, and act as a positive role model.

Where are we? The Kinship of the Park Rapids Area office is located in the Frank White Building at 301 Huntsinger Avenue in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
